Australian native, Bella Thomas, a model and ingenious creative shares her rituals for finding moments of rest amid nature's abundance. Seeing the world through her lens is a gentle reminder of nature's inherent beauty and unconditional love.
It’s summer in Australia at the moment, I try to swim as often as I can. Being in the ocean makes me feel so alive and calm all at once. To be held by the water is my ultimate form of rest.
Cooking for me is my favourite form of meditation. My mind becomes calm and the world fades away for a moment. I enjoy the slow process and the tasty reward at the end. My favourite dishes to cook are ones that take time - any sort of curry, slow cooked anything, a nourishing broth, or trying to master a new technique.
I’m not so good at reading but I love it. I find it hard to sit still, but I enjoy the challenge as there is no better feeling than finishing a good book. At the moment I am re-reading Caste by Isabel Wilkerson.
Walking is therapy. I could walk all day long - it’s a meditation, it’s exercise, it’s one foot in front of the other. I’ve started going to bed a lot earlier so I’m able to wake up early and go for a long walk. I do the first half of the walk in silence, letting my mind wander where it wants to. I’ll then pop on some slow music or a podcast.
